Where do we find the soul strength to follow our moral compass? How can we brighten the light that guides us as a people towards ending injustice? This Sunday, we are honored to bell be led by Pastor and “Live Free” anti-mass-incarceration campaign organizer from POWER Interfaith (www.powerinterfaith.org), Rev. Nicolas V. O'Rourke.
The Rev. Nicolas V. O'Rourke is the Assistant Pastor at the Living Water United Church of Christ in Oxford Circle and a Faith Based Community Organizer for POWER. Since joining POWER's Staff, his focus has been towards dismantling the crippling effects of Mass Incarceration and Police Brutality on people of color and combating Islamophobia within the city of Philadelphia. Rev. O'Rourke studied adolescent/Young Adult Education at Central State University in Wilberforce, OH as well as Ministry & Leadership at Crossroads Bible College in Indianapolis. He is currently pursuing studies in Urban Ministry & Leadership at the Lancaster Bible College: Center for Urban Theological Studies in Philadelphia. Rev. O'Rourke is a recognized licensed and ordained minister within several denominations and fellowships, working across wide ranging lines of thinking to highlight common ground in Christ for all people. As a strong proponent of social justice & spiritual awareness, Rev. O'Rourke considers himself a "Sacred Activist" and contends for the rights of people with the guidance of God. Rev. O'Rourke is married to his dearest Wife, Mrs. T. Leslie O'Rourke and is a proud God-Father, Uncle, Son, & Servant.
