Unitarian Universalists in the Joseph Priestley District have an opportunity to participate in Unitarian Universalism in the Nation's Capital and Beyond--a History Convocation sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist History and Heritage Society and UU Collegium November 7-10, 2013, at the National 4-H Center, just outside Washington, DC.
Mark Morrison-Reed, author of several acclaimed books that examine the history of race relations within Unitarian Universalism, will be theme speaker. His books include Voices from the Margin, Darkening the Doorways, and Black Pioneers in a White Denomination. As a teacher, he is an affiliated faculty member at Meadville Lombard Theological School. Philip E. Gura, author of American Transcendentalism, Truth's Ragged Edge: The Rise of the American Novel, and other works, is Collegium's 2013 Distinguished Scholar and will speak twice at the Convo.
