Property Ministry Team

The Property Ministry Team works with the church staff and Board of Trustees to maintain, adaptively reuse, and preserve our historic, architecturally significant church buildings and grounds. At our monthly meetings, the team analyzes both routine projects which fit within the annual budget and complex long-term projects requiring consultation with architects and engineers. Our goal is to provide a secure, functional, attractive and well-maintained facility for everyone who enters our doors. In striving to do so, we often find ourselves juggling the sometimes conflicting needs of the congregation, the staff, our tenants and the great Frank Furness buildings which are in our care.

In spring of 2008, we will begin a 2-year Preservation Project funded, in part, by a $75,000 grant from Partners For Sacred Places. The most noticeable work will consist of repairing, re-pointing and cleaning the stonework of the buildings. A structural analysis of the exterior walls and Sanctuary roof truss system will also be performed. This Project will lead into a much larger Capital Campaign which will include replacing the Sanctuary roof.

As the Property Ministry Team enters this exciting period, we invite participation at any level. Bring us your questions. Share your ideas—everything from simple improvements to grand visions for the future. Volunteer for a small project, or join our team. Our meetings are open and visitors are always welcome. Feel free to speak with any member of the team individually, as well. Please contact the Chair for information about upcoming meetings, agendas, and other business.
