UU Pennsylvania Legislative Action Network

UUPLAN: What it is and why you would love to be part of it?

UUPLAN is a network of Pennsylvania UU congregations and individual activists who lobby their state government legislators, with letters and visits to Harrisburg and home offices on progressive issues that reflect our UU principles.

UUPLAN is organized with bylaws, a Board (with our own Rev. Nate on it!) and decides each year which areas to focus on. In 2009-2010, the areas of action are: health care, global warming and LGBT issues. To be more effective, UUPLAN collaborates with allies who share our perspective on the issues and have a track record of effectiveness in Harrisburg. Our partners for the selected issues are:

UUPLAN at First Church:

  • This fall, we have organized a town hall meeting on Health Insurance Reform in collaboration with our neighboring Lutheran Church with Representative Chaka Fattah as the guest of honor (listen to it on UU talkradio).
  • We attended the annual UUPLAN meeting for prioritizing, strategizing and networking in Reading, PA.
  • And we implemented a day of action recommended by UUPLAN with visit/ letter writing to our State Representatives on October 24th.

As a group 5,700 Unitarian Universalists in PA! We have a strong voice. We have power! How can you get involved?
