Erick DuPree, MA, Director of Religious Education

          "It's all about fun, and believing in the power of play!"

That is Erick's motto, the power of play! As an educator, Erick seeks to bridge the gap between didactic lessons but the process of coming together to learn from our shared values.  Erick is a master story teller, and building on his training in experiential education, he weaves together morals, ministry, and magic to create an exciting program filled with love, laughter, and light. 

Erick portfolio as Director of Religious Education is dedicated to enriching congregational life through intergenerational religious education experiences.  Erick concurrently serves as Faith Development Director at the Unitarian Society of Germantown, and previously served Arlington Street Church in Boston, MA, as Lifespan Religious Educator and was recognized by the MassBay District of Unitarian Universalist Churches for his work in religious education. He is recipient of the 2010 Woburn Grant for religious education. 

 

Erick is the author of Universally Unique: Homilies, Lessons, and Lore , the  curriculum Simply Sevens and most recently A Lesson for All Ages. He is endorsed by the Unitarian Universalist Association to teach Our Whole Lives (OWL), a faith based sexuality program and spends his summers teaching youth at Ferry Beach, a Unitarian Universalist camp. He is the founder of YUUP (Young Unitarian Universalsits of Philadelphia) and is pursuant of advanced credential in Lifespan Religious Education through the Unitarian Universalist Association.

Erick received his graduate degree in Comparative Literature from Queen's University in Canada, and completed post graduate studies at Naropa University in Buddhism and Authentic Leadership. He is a student of Zen Buddhism under Enkyo O'Hara.  Having taught in many academic settings, Erick finds himself home in Faith Development.
