October: Children and Youth Religious Education Activities

Join, Erick DuPree, Director of Religious Education and the RE Ministry Team during the month of October for five Sundays of fun. All are welcome to believe in the power of play!

October 3 Intergenerational Service: Blessing of the Animals. We invite you and your children to come to church with your furry (or not so furry) friends and stuffed animals as we bless the animals. Children will be invited to join Rev. Nate and Erick to hand out certificates and blessing ribbons during this interactive service. This is the last Sunday to register your child for Religious Education.

October 10 Devotional Sunday: One, each person is worthwhile. All are welcome to join Erick and members of the RE Ministry Team for our first Devotional Sunday. Children and Youth will be sung out of the service with hymn 118, This Little Light of Mine.

October 17 Power of Play classes start this Sunday. Diane Frey will lead Early Learning ages 4-6, Erick DuPree will lead ages 7-10, and David Devan will lead ages 11-16. This is a great time to consider volunteering two Sundays per month to help make these classes a reality. Per usual, the children will be sung out to classes with hymn 118.

October 24 Creating an Altar. This Sunday children and youth will do the prep work for the following Sunday’s Day of the Dead service and Lesson for All Ages. This is a arts and craft centered and potentially messy class; please bring a smock with for your child to church or a change of clothes.

October 31 Intergenerational Service: Costumes, Candy, and Celebration of life are the theme for this first Lesson For All Ages: Présente! Día de los Muertos. All children are encouraged to wear their Halloween Costume for a costume processional and bring pictures for the altar they learned about the previous week honoring the Mexican festival Day of the Dead. Youth are invited to stay after church for Youth Group meeting and to decorate for an Open House Haunted House.
