Visitors and newcomers are always welcome at First Unitarian Church!
Most of us were newcomers and visitors ourselves at one time, and we want to offer to you the friendship as well as the "space" to explore our religious community. Whether you come to visit once or stay for a lifetime of religious growth and fellowship, we are glad you are here.
Our congregation is a community of people with diverse spiritual orientations and religious traditions, from many different backgrounds. Sharing this journey of spiritual growth, we are working together to find ways to live our faith in the world, all the while respecting the right to freedom of individual beliefs.
Please take time to explore this website to find out more about who we are and what we do. We welcome any and all questions you may have. We hope that we will meet you in person soon and that you will come to feel part of this congregation as we create and grow a diverse, questioning, justice-seeking, spirit-growing community.
You are invited to join us for our diverse worship services on Sunday mornings, which begin at 11:00 AM in the historic sanctuary September through June (and 10:00 AM during the summer, in the air-conditioned Parish Room).
We also host meditation services in the chapel (enter via Van Pelt S. Garden entrance) starting at 10:15 AM. The dress of the participants reflect the diversity of our community: some dress up, others are students or on-the-go parents who are casually dressed.

Unitarian Universalism & You
Would you like to know more about this congregation and our liberal religious tradition? Come to "UU & You" - an informal gathering that focuses on Unitarian Universalism, this historic congregation, and the steps to membership in our First Church Family. Drop-in for a chance to meet some current members, church leaders and our minister. These gatherings are held monthly, date published in The Beacon and in our weekly announcements.
Meanwhile, following each and every Sunday service, we invite newcomers to stop by the Coffee Hour in the Parish Room for refreshments and conversation.
After taking part in "UU & You" and attending worship and other activities here, we invite those who find themselves in sympathy with the Principles of Unitarian Universalism and the goals of this congregation, and feel "at home" here with this group of people, to consider Membership in our congregation. We hold New Member Welcoming ceremonies several times throughout the year. Find out more information here: Path to Membership.
Meet at the back of the Sanctuary immediately following the morning service for a half-hour tour of our landmark building. Learn about First Church's architecture, stained glass, and building use throughout its history. These are hosted at least once a month, usually on the last Sunday. Announcements regarding these tours are publicized in our weekly announcements and monthly newsletter.
