Event Description

Join the Chestnut Street Singers, FirstU's ensemble-in-residence, for the first concert of our 2012–2013 season as we plumb the limits of human genius and divine inspiration.

Music has an unparalleled ability to transport us out of ourselves and beyond our daily cares, but it’s not the only means by which we can see things in a new light. Flashes of brilliance and moments of wonder underpin all human creativity, and such encounters result in great art and extraordinary inventions.

The concert features works by Benjamin Britten (1913–1976), Olivier Messiaen (1908–1992), Eric Whitacre (1970–), and Veljo Tormis (1930–).
