Event Description

In December, about a dozen church members took part in a book group to study the UUA's 2013 Common Read, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by civil rights lawyer Michelle Alexander.  In response to the book, we agreed to explore building a partnership between the congregation and Decarcerate PA, a local advocacy group working against mass incarceration statewide.

Decarcerate PA meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday evening of every month.  A few of us from the book group will be attending their regular business meeting this coming Monday, and we invite anyone who would like to join us to explore how the church can get involved in this important racial justice and human rights issue!
