Welcome to the 2019-2020 Church Year at First Unitarian Church!
As we begin our new year together, we'll be holding our annual Leadership retreat on Saturday, September 14th, 8:30am - 4:00pm, in the Parish Room. I hope you'll join us!
What is the Leadership Retreat?
Every year, those who hold formal leadership positions at the church, as well as those who are interested in finding ways to get more involved here, gather together to spend a day honing their skills, planning the year ahead, and visioning exciting new possibilities for our congregation. All congregants are welcome, but we are reaching out to you in particular because of your leadership roles and/or because another congregational leader sees promise in you and wants to have your voice at the table.
How will the day work?
We will gather for breakfast provided by the church, and will go through activities and excerises together designed to deepen our skills and prepare a meaningful year of putting our mission of "Awakening Love and Justice in Our Lives and the World" into action. We ask that participants bring a cold dish to share (5-6 servings as a main dish or side) for lunch. Childcare will be available for those who request it in advance (see online form below or paper sign up sheet on Sunday).
Reach out to the planning team of Rev. Abbey, our new Minister for Faith Formation Hannah Capaldi, David O'Connor, Phyllis Belk, and Luana Goodwin.
Please register by Thursday, September 12th if you can come!
Whether you can join us on the 14th or not, we hope to see you at Water Communion this Sunday, September 8th, at 11:00am, and, as John O'Donahue says in his blessing below, may your year "be infused with passion and creativity and have the wisdom to balance compassion and challenge."
