Event Description

In his first post-sabbatical sermon, Reverend Nate will equate the congregation to a roundhouse, the large circular structure in a train yard that welcomes locomotives from near and far. Trains come from different directions, carrying different loads, then roll onto the turntable to be repaired, unloaded, filled up again, and turned around.

A Unitarian Universalist congregation is like a roundhouse. Each time we gather in the spirit of religious pluralism, we welcome one another–the seekers, the sojourners, and the lovers of leaving. We roll onto the turntable and tend to our wounds, we unload our burdens, and we are filled up with that which makes another adventure worthwhile. The community turns us around. Only then are we better prepared to venture out on our different tracks, headed in all directions until we return again.

This will be the first of a three-sermon series titled, "Prophetic Purpose."
