Event Description

Social Justice Film Night: "13th"
Wednesday, February 8, 7:00 PM, Sanctuary of First Unitarian Church, 2125 Chestnut St.

First Unitarian Church will be co-sponsoring a screening of "13th," a powerful documentary from Ava Duvernay (director of "Selma") about the 13th Amendment which outlawed slavery except for criminals.

The award-winning film is "an in depth look at the prison system in the U.S. and how it reveals the nation's history of racial inequality."

Following the film two prominent Philadelphians: J. Jondhi Harrell, Founder and Executive Director of The Center for Returning Citizens and Reuben Jones, Executive Director of Frontline Dads will speak on how we as a concerned community can make a difference.

This free showing is also co-sponsored by Congregation Rodeph Shalom and the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration. All are welcome.
