Event Description

Religious leaders can be perceived as a pack of bloodthirsty wolves ravaging the carcasses of secularists. Preachers bolster this impression when they use text of terror to make theological threats. When preachers use the pulpit as a weapon, they can bully people out of the pews and into theological despair. It is imperative for religious communities to purge religious-based bigotry. The Charter for Compassion proposes an antidote: “to return to the ancient principle that any interpretation of scripture that breeds violence, hatred or disdain is illegitimate.”
