Once a great king, now a cursed outcast, blind at the end of his life, Oedipus wanders in search of sanctuary and the blessing of a "resting place." This ancient myth of suffering and forgiveness fuses perfectly with the preaching cadences and ecstatic song of the African American Church. Gospel at Colonus is an experience of communal healing. Pure joy sweeps away our differences and binds us together in our shared humanity.
The Gospel at Colonus is by Lee Breuer and Bob Telson. This production features Bishop Bruce Parham as Oedipus the King.
