Event Description

Tower of Song, Philadelphia's most adventurous women's choir, reunites for a special repeat performance of this summer's "Tall Tree Girls."

This year's inception of Tower of Song's dazzling musicianship and high-wire programming focused on the grit and ferocity of music written for earthbound girls rather than angelic choirs. Featuring Gwyneth Walker's "My Girls," set to the poems of Maryland Poet Laureate Lucille Clifton, the concert also showcases this pop-up choir's depth and range in everything from Marian chants to Eastern European folksongs, contemporary jazz to early American hymns.

Free admission! Donations gladly accepted.

Tower of Song's members include FirstU's own Ranwa Hammamy, Jen Hayman, and Caroline Winschel, along with Katy Akinskas, Sonja Bontrager, Maura Caldwell, Laura Feibush, and Elissa Kranzler.
