In honor of Monday's annual Transgender Day of Remembrance and Resilience, there are multicolored prayer ribbons and markers at the back of the Sanctuary. Following today's service, please feel free to write a prayer for the transgender community on a ribbon and tie it to one of the Sanctuary Gates on Chestnut Street.
At ~12:45, we will be holding a vigil on the front steps to honor the lived experiences of transgender and gender non-conforming individuals and remember those who have been victims of violence. The vigil will include witness, reflection, and song, and together, we will read the names of those we have lost this year, and ritually add their names and our prayers to our gate. All are invited to join in the vigil, though if bringing children, please know that we will be speaking openly about the violence faced by the transgender community.
