17th Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run
“Recognizes September as Sickle Cell Awareness Month”
The 17th Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run fundraiser is sponsored by the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/ Delaware Valley Chapter and AFSCME District Council 33. The event will be held in Fairmount Park at Belmont Avenue and North Concourse Drive (across from Please Touch Museum), Philadelphia, PA. 19131 on Saturday September 27, 2014.
The 17th Annual Walter E. Brandon Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run will be held during September in recognition of Sickle Cell Awareness Month and to raise awareness about sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait, as well as the importance of testing.
The scheduled activities for the day include a morning kick-off program; bell ringing ceremony remembering those who have passed away; 5K walk/ run; wellness pavilion; health screenings; community resources/information; children’s activities; awards; music, entertainment and refreshments.

Free Registration: All individuals with sickle cell disease
Registration Fee: $25.00 per person for all walkers and runners (includes t-shirt)
Registration Fee: $10.00 per person for children 12 years old and under ( includes t-shirt)
The sickle cell walk/run is a major fundraiser for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America, Philadelphia/ Delaware Valley Chapter to continue providing supportive services to children, adolescents and adults affected by sickle cell disease.
