Having Your Voice to the End of Your Life
offered in a new format on March 3rd and 10th from 12:30-5:00
Mark Peterson is offering this 8 hour Seminar at the Unitarian Society of Germantown on two Sunday Afternoons.
This Seminar has been taught four times at the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia. It will provide opportunities for participants to (1) develop greater specificity as to what they would want if they are unable to make choices for themselves, (2) learn about available alternative forms of care, (3) complete forms to provide to their doctor, attorney, and family, and (4) design an approach to discussing their choices with their families.
End of life planning is often done through Advanced Medical Directives by only 10%-20% of the population. The documents are often vague and lack sufficient specificity to guide your doctor. They can often be countermanded despite your wishes. Many times they are out of date.
We will review cases, visit web sites and examine articles about end of life care. The core activity will be for each person to develop specific and uniquely tailored instructions to the person whom they designate as their Medical Proxy.
