The Caring Ministries helps our congregation connect with and support each other, especially in the most difficult times. In particular, members coordinate visits and communications with members who are ill, grieving, or unable to make it to church, and coordinate meals, rides, etc. for congregants in crisis.
You can get involved with this mission by joining the “Helping Hands” team which is contacted when a congregant is in need to help provide meals and other support, or join one of our “cook-ins” where we make casseroles that can be frozen and delivered to congregants in need.

Prayer Shawl Ministries
In the Catholic tradition, prayer shawls are shawls or lap blankets thoughtfully created by congregants and blessed for people who are facing a physical health problem or emotional crisis.
We meet once a month, on the first Sunday, to share prayer/positive thought ideas, stitches/designs, and each other's company. You can also learn the basics of crochet at this meeting - no prior experience necessary! Knitters, crocheters, quilters, weavers, and all aspiring textile artists are welcome.

Meet once a week to light a chalice and check in with your heart and spirit alongside 2-4 other congregants. During this hard and isolating time, this is a great way to meet new people and deepen your connection to First Unitarian. Meetings last about thirty minutes. Sign up here.
