The murder of George Floyd by Derek Chauvin, a Minneapolis police officer sparked protests and demonstrations throughout the nation. The civil unrest in Philadelphia left a lasting impression on the Philadelphia community in a number of ways. In an effort to ensure that Philadelphian’s tax dollars are being used efficiently and effectively, the Office of the City Controller conducted an independent review of the City of Philadelphia’s operational and resource deployment and tactics during the civil unrest following George Floyd’s murder. The independent review was supported by the Community Advisory and Accountability Council, a coalition of clergy, including our Lead Minister Rev. Abbey Tennis. You can find the full review here.
The report comes with a quick guide on the report, which breaks down the key information into a 2-page summary.
