Anticipating the Good
Change will occur in almost every aspect of our lives, but we can learn to embrace it while releasing the past with grace. As we close the door on another summer of transitions, (graduations, weddings and memorials) we begin to look forward with anticipation or dread. What questions are we answering? Whose questions are we answering? How are we answering these questions?
As Unitarian Universalists, we celebrate the individual journey, recognizing the beauty of diversity and the gifts that every one of…Continue

Today, on this very beautiful Saturday afternoon, my family joined others in picking apples from Linvilla Orchards' trees. We are grateful for their service, for their tending to the orchards, for the sunshine that gives nourishment to the apple trees, for the staff who enable such an event, and for Rachel who brought this about!
We all had an awesome time,…Continue

The Music Ministry team is collecting personal stories and writings to use in the Christmas Eve worship service.
We want to celebrate the holiday the way the members of our community imagine it, and we want to build the Christmas Eve service around community contributions: stories of Christmas memories, tellings of family Christmas lore, and sure, even…Continue

In the past two months, I have had two different people approach me asking me to chip in for an expense that they have already paid for out of pocket. This bothers me greatly, for a number of different reasons:
In both situations, the person did not first ASK Rev. Nate or Norman if there was any money in the budget, but just went ahead and paid out of their own pockets. Even if there isn’t a budgeted line item, there are some restricted donations that might be available. Step…Continue

Welcome to a new and exciting church year. What makes it so exciting is that we’re all back home again. Over the summer some of us have traveled to places far and near, others have wiled away the hours at local pools, and others have chilled in our own homes under the cool blast of air conditioning. Now, the new church year has arrived with new opportunities for all.
