Guides for Furness exhibit Training Session

Dane Wells will be leading a training session for prospective guides for the Furness exhibit - after Service this Sunday - September 30th - in the Sanctuary.  If you have not already signed up, please come to the session if you are interested and then decide if you would like to participate.   I will have packets of materials - cheat sheets so you dont have to remember everything - and at least you will learn more about the wonderful building we are in.  The exhibit boards will be available…

Financial Updates: ASK Before Spending

In the past two months, I have had two different people approach me asking me to chip in for an expense that they have already paid for out of pocket.  This bothers me greatly, for a number of different reasons:

Meet First U's New Student Minister

Hello First U!
I am so pleased to introduce myself to you all as the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia's Student Minister for the 2012/2013 church year.  As many of you know, I am a native of the Philly area and preached my very first sermon before this congregation in the summer of 2010.  I'm now back in town, commuting weekly to Boston to finish the final year of my master's degree at Harvard Divinity School.

As a candidate for UU ordination,…

Heart to Heart: Doing Our Best

Welcome to a new and exciting church year. What makes it so exciting is that we’re all back home again. Over the summer some of us have traveled to places far and near, others have wiled away the hours at local pools, and others have chilled in our own homes under the cool blast of air conditioning. Now, the new church year has arrived with new opportunities for all.

We often…
